Assassin's Creed Shadows: Expanded Gameplay Walkthrough | Ubisoft Next

The Ubisoft Forward extended gameplay guide gave us tons of raw gameplay to show us how the game will play once we get our hands on it.

It starts with an exploration section that shows you how you can naturally encounter NPCs through sidequests as you wander around towns.

We previously had two heroes in Assassin's Creed. Union, Again, Shadows of Assassin's Creed will allow both Naoe and Yasuke to play in their own unique styles. The Ubisoft Forward extended gameplay guide gave us tons of raw gameplay to show us how the game will play once we get our hands on it.

Naoe will be your more traditional sneaky assassin character thanks to his shinobi training. He or she will be able to hide in the shadows and move through stages undetected using distractions and ninja tools such as kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs, and grappling hook. He will also use the iconic hidden blade to carry out the assassination. In his gameplay, we see that he has the ability to use Eagle Vision to highlight enemies even from behind some walls, even if they are close enough.

While stealth, Naoe will have a detection meter that slowly fills up unless you're behind cover or crawling through bushes near an enemy. Light also plays an important role, and turning off light sources will not only help you stay undetected but also distract enemies.

As another method of assassination, Naoe can use his chain sickle to draw himself onto unsuspecting enemies from a distance and take them out. He also has a non-lethal grip with which he can lure enemies into isolated areas before choosing to assassinate them or knock them out.

Yasuke, on the other hand, is a samurai who prefers to fight enemies more directly. The gameplay will revolve around aggression with combos, blocks, and parries to take down enemies. Along with his heavier armor, he will have access to katanas, kanbo, bows, and more melee weapons. In combat, we see him dodge an unblockable attack marked by a red light and then counter with a heavy blow. Blue attacks can be blocked or parried, leaving the attacker defenseless if you deflect the entire combo. Brutal finishing moves are back and just as devastating.

Enemies have a yellow bar above their health, representing armor that can be broken with enough attacks.

You can decide which character you want to use in each mission depending on the situation or your preference. Each will have their own skills to unlock and use, as well as their own unique stats and equipment.

There is also talk of a spy network and information gathering system. It might look something like this Brotherhood A system to recruit new assassins to be sent on different missions, but has not been shown yet. All that is known is that you can recruit new allies with their own skills to aid you in your quest.

And most importantly, you can pet the dog.
