Platelet Rich Plasma, which is widely used in the treatment of joint and tendon-muscle problems, is a technique also used in aesthetic medicine.

Hair loss is a phenomenon that affects many men around the world. Many treatments are now available to effectively combat hair loss. So, do you know PRP, which is the abbreviation of Platelet Rich Plasma? PRP, which is offered to stimulate hair regrowth, is now largely proven and will interest you.

Origin and functioning of platelet-rich plasma

We need to go back to 1960, when Doctor Schulte first suggested the possibility of treating wounds with autologous blood. The term autologous means that the blood donor (in this case) is also the recipient. This technique was first used in the early 1960s and was used to fill cysts in 1968.

Although this research was not known internationally at the time, it began to attract significant attention from the medical profession in the late 1980s, especially with the publication of the first report on open-heart heart surgery in Italy in 1987.

Platelet Rich Plasma treatment has gained popularity since the 1990s and continues to this day. Increasingly used and offered as part of aesthetic medical treatment, especially treat hair loss.

biological functioning

Platelet Rich Plasma is a plasma fraction obtained from your own blood with an increased concentration of platelets. Nothing could be easier to achieve this!

A live blood sample is taken and the sample is placed in a centrifuge. The latter will make it possible to separate the components of the blood (red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma). The heaviest cells will be located at the bottom of the syringe, while the rich plasma and growth factors will remain on the surface. These are collected in a second syringe for a new injection.

It is this second syringe that will attract our attention in the treatment! In fact, the blood inside will be re-injected into the area to be treated using thin needles. These PRP injections will stimulate hair growth, strengthen and extend life as part of the treatment against hair loss.

Hair loss: PRP technique

The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections is aimed at men who are experiencing hair loss and want to stimulate their regrowth, thus offering an alternative to hair transplants or implants. This method is especially suitable for mild to moderate cases of alopecia and partially bald areas. It is effective in the initial stage of baldness, especially in thickening the hair on the forehead, temples or crown of the head.

In more advanced cases of baldness, where certain areas are completely bald, other treatments such as hair transplantation are preferred. This decision should be made in consultation with your doctor or surgeon. However, PRP injections can also be complementary to hair transplantation, we will explain this in the next point of our article.

It is worth noting that this procedure is not recommended for people with skin inflammation, diabetes or hemophilia.

PRP after hair transplantation?

After hair transplantation, your cells need more stimulation. Therefore, combining hair transplantation with PRP treatment can accelerate the healing process and the effectiveness of the treatment. This also allows:

– Maintain and improve the vitality of hair follicles;

– Improving the healing process of tissues after transplantation;

– To stimulate your hair growth.

This innovative approach makes it possible to complete hair transplantation in a way that makes the most of its benefits. Platelet Rich Plasma, which is well tolerated in all patients, is a method that should be taken into consideration as with other treatments.

Of course, it is highly preferred to use quality hair products to enhance their effects. If hair loss can be associated with alopecia, it can also be caused by the use of poor quality products that cause significant damage to your hair.
